Get the Led Out: Led Zeppelin Salute

You have to give these artists credit - this is one album which is a definite labor of love. Get the Led Out: Led Zeppelin Salute is an album entirely of Led Zeppelin covers by modern day artists. The range is impressive, as just some of the artists on this album include Jimmy Page, Leslie West and Brian Tarquin. Though it's a fun concept, I counted only three songs with any vocals, four if you count "ohhh" and "yeahhh!"

There are more fanciful guitar riffs than you can shake a stick at, and no newfangled lyrics to get in the way of your enjoyment of that ever-present guitar. No, this CD is full of a lot of passionate guitar playing and silent homages to Led Zeppelin, the band that almost everybody says they loved, at least at some point. If you're a Zeppelin fan, you'll appreciate the love oozing from this album, for Zep. And if you're not a Zep fan, but you love guitar, then you might have fun with this album too! And if you like lyrics and not the guitar so much, then I'd advise to stay far away from this album. I liked the album, as it provides nice background music when I can't pay attention to words or am working on something else. It's nothing new or revolutionary but it's a fun salute to a rock group sometimes hailed as the best.
