Girlfriends - Season Two

Another great season that deserves to be watched over and over again.

Back, eh? No surprises there. The first season of "Girlfriends" did a magnificent job in creating dedicated fans and pulling them in to watch another hilarious season. Joan Clayton (Tracee Ellis Ross), Toni Childs (Jill Marie Jones), Maya Wilkes (Golden Brooks), and Lynn Searcy (Persia White) are back with their dazzling personalities. Even though season one was great, season two gives season one a run for its money.

In the heart-stopping first season's finale, Joan is forced to tell Toni the truth about why Toni's boyfriend Greg left her (Joan accidentally told Greg that Toni planned to marry another man). The bitter end of the first season leads to a bitter beginning of season two. From the start, Toni seeks revenge and Joan desperately apologizes, all while Maya and Lynn are stuck in the middle. When Toni tries to settle the score by stooping to the ultimate low, at first Joan justifies Toni's actions by believing that she was the cause of Toni losing her boyfriend, but later, Joan stands up for herself in a momentous way.

Despite the fact that Joan and Toni's friendship is at a standstill, Maya has troubles in her marriage. Maya's husband, Darnell, has told her countless times that her new friends (Joan, Toni, and Lynn) are "trifling" women. Darnell becomes enemies with Joan as well as with the audience. Ignoring him, Maya befriends a man which transforms into an emotional affair. Sexually liberated Lynn finds a man that she met in Jamaica who flies back to America with her to live. She soon finds out that things that go around absolutely come back around.

Season two is full of drama but keeps the side-splitting moments also. This season illustrates how friends butt heads but always seem to work things out in the end like sisters.
