'Glee' Recap: Special Education

Tuesday night's Glee was another grand slam as the glee club members prepared for sectionals.

Emma is back and was invited to sectionals by Will. He said that she is the team's good luck charm. Ms. Pillsbury points out that their shows are predictable and they need to change things up a bit.

Will brings this to the glee club’s attention and made some changes right away. First and foremost, Mike and Brittany will have a chance to shine while they dance together at sectionals. Rachel disagrees with the new changes since she did not get a solo this year. As a result, Rachel then tapes her mouth shut, exclaiming her talents are being wasted. For once, Will had the audacity to say something to Rachel because she wants to be the lead all the time.

Santana finally revealed the truth to Rachel about her and Finn hooking up last year. Rachel was heartbroken and found comfort in the arms of Puck.

It’s Kurt’s first day at Dalton High. The glee club welcomed him with open arms. However, his ideas and song choices weren’t welcomed. Blaine advised Kurt to try out for the lead at sectionals. Who better to turn to for advice of song choices than Rachel?

Kurt and Rachel were bonding more than they ever did before. Kurt asks Rachel for her input on what ballad would work best for his auditions. The two sing a great collaboration of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” Blaine points out Kurt is trying too hard. What happened to the Blaine that Kurt was so gaga for? Since Kurt transferred schools, Blaine has become a different person. Hopefully, Kurt will get out of that uniform and back to McKinley High where he belongs.

Will looked to Puck to find a replacement for Kurt. The first stop was the football team, but that didn’t end so well. Puck was stuffed into a porta potty for 24 hours until an “angel” saved him. Without having an audition, Puck chose his “angel” Lauren to be the next member of the glee club.

At sectionals, there were three teams competing. The Hipsters, a senior citizen glee club, was shockingly incredible. Dalton High sang Train’s “Hey Soul Sister.” You can tell Kurt was not in his element since the performance was lacking his personality. When Kurt sings, he usually lights up a room, but that twinkle in his eye that’s usually there on stage has disintegrated. He did not feel like himself and Rachel noticed, as she told him to smile during their performance. The singing itself was amazing, but their performance was missing pizzazz.

Sam opens up McKinley High’s performance with Quinn singing Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' duet “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” The song has been a classic for years and the two did the song justice. Santana had a chance to take the lead while singing “Valerie.” However, Brittany and Mike’s dance performance outshined Santana.

In the end, Dalton High and McKinley High end up in a tie and they both go to regionals.

Rachel comes clean to Finn, revealing she hooked up with Puck. Finn said this is unforgivable and breaks up with her. It’ll only be a matter of time before the couple will be back together again. Mercedes and Tina end the show by singing Florence and the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over.” At regionals, Will should think about giving Mercedes and Tina a chance to showcase their talents.
