It was all about Holly Holliday (Gwyneth Paltrow) on Tuesday night's Glee. Holly took over Will Schuester’s Spanish class and glee club while he was under the weather. Instead of trying to be an authoritative figure to the students, Holly wanted to be more of a friend. Therefore, she taught the students to say, "How many times has Lindsay Lohan gone to rehab?" rather than teaching traditional sentences like, "What is your name?"
All the glee club members loved the new substitute with the exception of Rachel, who wanted to take over the glee club herself. Holly took on a new approach by asking the students what they wanted to sing instead of choosing their musical selection for them like Will.
Will, who was confined to his bed, was being taken care of by his ex-wife Terri. Terri was trying everything she could to get her ex-husband back. Eventually, Will did give into temptation after getting a rub down by Terri. However, Will has made it clear that he has no desire to get back with his estranged wife.
Kurt has been going on many dates with his new beau Blaine. The pair is like two peas in a pod. They have so much in common and Kurt is finally happy with how things are going in his life. He was in dire need of happiness and he deserves it just like everyone else.
Mercedes, on the other hand, had a strange obsession with tater tots. Figgins also gets the flu, which led to Sue Sylvester trying to take over the school. To make the students' lives miserable, Sue banned tater tots from the school's cafeteria and replaced the fried food with broccoli.
Mercedes then stuffed the tots into Sue’s tailpipe of her car. Kurt came to Mercedes’ rescue and points out she’s trying to replace love with tots. Kurt made a proposition for Mercedes to go out with football player Anthony. Mercedes eventually gave in to the proposal.
The majority of song choices for this episode were not up to Glee standards. The only song that was amazing was the mashup of “Umbrella” and “Singing in the Rain,” which the cast performed at the end.
The others, “Forget You” by Cee-lo (performed by Holly), “Make ‘em Laugh” from “Singing in the Rain” (Will’s fever dream), and Chicago’s “Nowadays” (sung by Holly and Rachel) could have been replaced with different numbers.
