'Glee' Recap: A Very Glee Christmas

Stephanie DeLuca

Christmas spirit is in the air, as Glee dedicated Tuesday night’s episode to the holiday season. Will had a brilliant idea to raise money for the less fortunate by singing Christmas carols to different classrooms. Students from the high school were not a big fan of the idea and threw a shoe at the glee club.

Brittany was represented as our inner child-like innocence to keep the belief of Christmas alive. To go along with Brittany’s belief in Santa Claus, the members of glee sat on Santa’s lap and asked for gifts for Christmas. Lauren asked for Puck, Tina wanted to know where the Asian Santa is, and Brittany wants her boyfriend Artie to walk for Christmas.

Even though Rachel is Jewish, she still gets into the Christmas spirit by giving Finn a gift of a song. Finn declines the generous offer and said he can’t forgive her. If Finn doesn’t want anything to do with Rachel, then why did he offer to look for Christmas trees together? That’s only something a couple would do. She’s trying everything in her power to have him back in her life. However, Finn’s heart is still broken.

Will paid a visit to Kurt at his new school and informed him about Secret Santa at school with the faculty members. With Kurt’s great sense of style, Will turned to Kurt for shopping advice. He did pick out the perfect track suit with fur for Will’s Secret Santa, Sue.

Come to find out, Sue rigged Secret Santa by putting only her name in the bucket so that all of the faculty members would buy her presents. Who better to play the Grinch than Sue? She even broke into the glee club’s room to steal presents that were collected for the homeless and ornaments from the tree. Brittany caught her in the act, but her innocence overpowered her reason to think clearly.

Ms. Bieste dresses up as Santa and paid a visit to Brittany’s home. Brittany is still convinced it’s the real Santa and asks again for Artie to walk. Ms. Bieste tries everything in her power to convince the naïve teenager that this will never happen, but Brittany is adamant to have her boyfriend walk. At class the next day, Artie was wearing an invention called a re-walk to give Brittany her Christmas wish. Yet, no one knew where it came from.

Despite Sue’s Grinch-like ways, the glee club managed to raise money for the homeless by getting the support of the other teachers. In the end, Sue does have a change of heart like the real Grinch and invited the glee club to share the Christmas spirit at Will’s house.
