Groove Alchemy

Kim Alsumiri
Has some good chemistry.

Drummer Stanton Moore does wonderful things on his album, Groove Alchemy. Alchemy, known as an ancient belief that gold could be created out of ordinary material like straw, relates well to what Moore does here. Taking ordinary wooden drum sticks, he creates a masterful funk album.

Upbeat and, well, groovy, his drums and organ make this a must have album for any jazz or funk musician and lover. Even non-funk fans will have to move, his tracks make it irresistible. I imagine myself sitting in a coffee house while he and the band play it up. Some head bobbing, some foot tapping, and the ordinary trip to the coffee shop is jazzed up.

I like that his album also comes with an instructional for anyone looking to learn more about funk or drums. Not only a great album, but he makes the music attainable.
