Have You Got My Purr?

Have You Got My Purr?, by Judy West, is a lovable children's book that is a fun and engaging read. Young readers will delight in Kitten's innocent curiosity.

Kitten was sad because she could not purr. Kitten could mew, hiss, and yowl, but she could not purr. When Kitten cannot find her purr, she is certain one of the other farm animals have taken her purr.

In search of her missing purr, Kitten goes off to inquire each of the farm animals. She starts off with Dog who only has a 'woof' and suggests she try Cow. However, Cow has a 'moo,' not the purr Kitten is looking for and suggests she try Pig. Pig doesn't have her purr either and points Kitten in the direction of Duck. Kitten has no such luck with Duck either and is sent to Mouse. From animal to animal Kitten is sent, yet with no avail. Finally, Kitten is left to return home, sad and discouraged. Young readers will certainly be intrigued at who has Kitten's purr and how it must be found.
