It's all about rock 'n' roll on the debut release for Kasey Anderson & The Honkies, Heart of a Dog.
The band's new studio effort is all the Stones' grittiness that intimate and real bar-based Blues that the Northwestern music sound can offer. Starting with the introductory track, "The Wrong Light," the band gets right down to music boogie business. The mood properly follows into "Mercy," and then to third track "Exit Ghost," which can easily find a home on any Modern/Alternative Rock formatted play-list. A reprieve is then found in the calmness of "Your Side of Town," and from which the same pattern is fashioned for the rest. The ten track release is backed by a line-up of a stellar group of musicians including some former Indie band super stars: Kasey Anderson (vocals, guitar, and percussion), Andrew McKeag (guitar, vocals) of The Presidents of the United States of America, Eric Corson (bass), and Mike Musburger (drums) of Fastbacks, Young Fresh Fellows, The Posies, and The Supersuckers. Production duties, by former solo act Kasey Anderson, allowed for a democratic approach during the recording process.
A true gem saved for end of the new release is The English Beat's "Save It For Later" that is interpreted in such an original form that you'd never know it was a cover.
Look for Kasey Anderson & The Honkies' Heart of a Dog scheduled for release on February 15.
