Monday night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother was a reminder of just how great the show is. It begins with Ted sitting outside a church, obviously nervous about the events that are about to transpire. In a flash, we are back at MacLaren’s, where Ted grades papers and Barney laments over the end of summer and the glory of sundresses.
Nervous, Ted sneeks peaks at a beautiful girl sitting at the bar. Once Barney sees her, the two argue over who had "dibs" over her — a classic Barney move. But when Ted sees the girl talking to Cindy, a girl who he went on one bad date with, Ted tries his best to stop looking at the bar.
Meanwhile, Robin has seemingly lost all personal hygiene after her break up with Don; Barney taunts her, stating that she’s “hit her hotness expiration date.” The shows cutest couple, Lily and Marshal, has their own issues with Marshal’s relationship with his father. Lily is upset that Marshal told him that they are planning to conceive.
In the end, Robin cleans up to prove to Barney that she still has it, Marshal apologizes for telling his father about their plans, and Ted finds that the possible girl of his dreams is a lesbian. As for the scene outside the church, Ted was preparing for his best man speech.
I found this episode to be smart, and sassy, and as always, insanely funny. Barney’s one liners and misogynistic behavior continue to delight, and I think we are closer to finding out just who the "mother" is. If you aren’t already a fan, I suggest you start. Trust me, it’ll be legen...wait for it...dary!
