I Love to Swim!

Making swimming fun

I love to Swim! is a delightful and fun book that introduces your child to the joys and fun of swimming. Written by Rita Goldberg, a former competitive swimmer and swim teacher, I Love to Swim is written in a light hearted, straight-forward style that makes swimming seem like the most natural thing in the world, indeed pointing out that we all start swimming in "mommy's tummy."

Having witnessed plenty of terrified children at swim lessons, this book is a wonderful way to get children at ease with the water. Goldberg makes it fun too -- from playing in the bathtub to diving for treasures in the pool. She adroitly shows the progression of the art of swimming from mommy to bathtub to mommy and me swimming, to swimming on their own. All of the book written is in rhyme, which also makes it easy for children to follow and read along with.

Kids fear the unknown more than knowing what to expect, and I love to Swim is a perfect way to introduce your child to swimming. Not too at ease mind you, as Goldberg smartly goes over the rules of swimming that every child needs to know.

Brightly and colorfully illustated by Nick Moore I Love to Swim is a genuinely fun book that should give both parent and child peace of mind and a life-long love of the pleasures of swimming.
