If You Take a Mouse to School
Another addition to the burst of back-to-school themed books is If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff. For all readers following Numeroff's If You Give. . . books, this new addition to the series won't disappoint. Young readers will delight in the rhetoric and retorts of this new book featuring the mouse again.
Still demanding as always, if you take a mouse, or rather, the mouse to school, he will obviously ask for something, such as a lunch box. Then, if you provide him with a lunch box, it is probable there will be something he may want, likely something to put into his new lunch box. However, is a sandwich really enough for the mouse? Of course not. Even with a lunch box and sandwich, the mouse will want more things to go with you to school. Perhaps a notebook and some pencils will be enough. But knowing the mouse, it may not even be possible to quench his insatiability. Demanding, curious, and overachieving, though this little mouse may ask a lot of you, he certainly adds fun to class and to the story.
With Numeroff's cleverly weaved subtle humor voiced by the narrator and with the actions of the character of the irresistible mouse, If You Take a Mouse to School is overwhelmingly fun and amusing.
