Karibu
This is not precisely jazz or reggae, but some of the fun and island hideaway songs are reminiscent of some of the best of that genre. Lionel Loueke's album, Karibu, is a delight for the senses. Inspired by Caribbean and African tunes, this beautiful collection of tunes is a fun and relaxing album to just pop into the CD player and listen to. Coming in at nine tracks long, it is not a very long CD, and that is a shame, as what IS on it, is quite nice. The melodies are smooth, swaying and all-around pleasant to listen to. It's not quite jazz, and it's not quite reggae. I can't classify it exclusively as adult contemporary either. It is an easy listening, smooth jazz, with a taste of reggae. No song especially stands out on this CD as being superior or inferior to any other. The beauty of this specific collection is that every song slowly meshes into the other, so that it becomes quite hard to know exactly where one begins, and the next takes off.
