Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage, is centered on a piece of paper his son gets at school that has numbers in every row and every column. What exactly do the numbers mean? We find out the numbers relate to every world disaster. The numbers are the exact date, place, and how many fatalities will occur during that disaster. This movie should be considered a sci-fi film as well as a thriller. Throughout the whole movie, I felt scared as if I was watching a horror film. From planes crashing to aliens following people around, there is no way somebody can watch this film and not be scared.
While this movie was interesting and made you jump, it was more so unrealistic. It started off intriguing and exciting, but then it just became so out-of-line and impractical that it lost my attention and had me shaking my head in disbelief. Aside from the plot line, the acting is unrealistic as well. Cage's reaction to some of the most tragic happenings in the world falls flat and unworkable. This movie had a lot of potential, but fell short with the out-of-this world plot line and not so quality acting.
I suggest watching "Knowing" if you are into sci-fi type films as well as those pertaining to the end of the world type theme.
"Knowing" is now available on DVD.
