Larry Kirwan is 'Rockin' the Bronx'

Larry Kirwan, leader, singer/guitarist, and composer for political rock band Black 47, has released a new book. Rockin' the Bronx is set in the 1980's and follows the life of an Irish immigrant in the Bronx. Described as an Angela's Ashes for this generation, it poignantly rings true and lets the reader into the underbelly of New York life for immigrants.

Sean Kelly, the main character, arrives in search of his girlfriend Mary, but the streets of New York and the realities of the 80's- AIDS, drugs, music, dancing, and politics- push Sean into manhood.

Reminiscent of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Kirwan stays true in his latest book. His previous titles include Green Suede Shoes and Livin in America.

Catch Kirwan's latest book and tune into his show, Celtic Crush on Sirius XM Radio and his weekly column in the Irish Echo.
