In this era of corporate-sponsored artists and packaged bands, it's refreshing to hear a singer/songwriter who recalls a time when music was for the people. Fred Prellberg's debut is a throwback to the rock of the 60s and 70s. The recording bridges the gap between generations of music listeners.
Prellberg proves he can live up to his influences, writing meaningful songs ranging from the R&B-inspired "Stay Where You Are," to the folk-influenced "Good For You." He wrote all the songs here except for the title track, written by Elliot Murphy.
Last of the Rock Stars is an excellent first release for Denmark Street Records. Hopefully, more quality albums will follow.
