Latasha Lee, R&B singer from Texas, has created a soon-to-be R&B classic.
Lee’s song, “Get Away,” is a perfect way to get the modern pop culture back to the roots of true R&B. In the video, Lee dons a look reminiscent of the Motown classics. Her hair poofed and in a glamorous '60s inspired dress, Lee will either steal your heart with her soulful voice or with her stunning looks.
Although a relatively new artist, I’m still surprised Lee has not received more attention. Her lyrics to the song, “Get Away,” sound like the recently popular soul singer, Adele’s, lyrics. As if the classics of Motown are imbibed into Lee’s voice, her vocals are purely amazing. I have not heard one song by Lee that would make me want to ever stop listening to her; on the contrary, all of her songs leave me wanting for more.
Automatically, this song can be a classic. Between video clips of Lee during her everyday life and her glamorous shots, the singer is accessible, human, and absolutely relatable, not to mention she has me hooked by trying to popularize REAL music again.
My sheer excitement for such great music cannot be contained!
Hopefully, one day Latasha Lee will get her time in the spotlight and maybe a duet with Adele at one point. (I have my fingers crossed.)
