Lifesong
When secular young people hear the words "Christian rock," they often think of bible-belt teens gathering in mass worship. However, if groups like Lifehouse are any indication, Christian rock isn't so far from the mainstream. After all, if you take away the message, the music is no different than what you'd hear on a typical rock station.
Although The Casting Crowns could easily make the jump to mainstream rock, their new album Lifesong is as Christian rock as they come. With tracks such as, "Love Them Like Jesus," and "Set Me Free," Lifesong speaks to those looking for salvation. While the songs may be based on Christian teachings, their themes are more about the universal ideas of love and acceptance.
If you can get past the Christian rock factor, Lifesong is a decent album. The music is well played, and lead singer Mark Hall is a vocal powerhouse. However, those not looking for Jesus may want to skip this one and wait till The Casting Crowns make a secular album.
