Lin McEwan

Singer Lin McEwan has a very nice voice. She clearly could produce great hits if she wanted to, and if she found the right style of music for her voice. McEwan's self-titled album is not much to holler about. It feels more like the response of a person hurt in love, who focuses more on the painful past than much of anything else. Even the song titles tell this, with such names as "You Didn't Love Me Back." It would be fine if there was one sad ode on this album, but the entire CD says the same message. If McEwan can work hard next time to put her beautiful voice to better use, and can throw in both some more meaningful odes and some happier, lighthearted sounds, she could be a great success. Hopefully others will also see the great potential within this singer, which unfortunately was not put to great use in this album.
