Lonesome Whistle

Claudine Paul

Country duo the Roys hone in on universal themed concepts on new music release Lonesome Whistle.

The bluegrass duo's lyrics on the studio title, from the beginning intro track to the end, are a a mix of picturesque story tales. From working the working hardships in "Coal Minin' Man," spiritual endearment of "That's What Makes It Love" (featuring Ricky Skaggs) and "I Wonder What God's Thinking," revengeful narrative depicted of "Right Back at You," the temptations and moral values of "Give a Ride to the Devil," and admirable "Trailblazer," all are tunes that make up a vivid collage of emotions. It is an easy listen overall, given the straight forwardness and vocal harmonizing, of both sibling musicians,
Elaine Roy and Lee Roy. Other tracks include: "Nothin' I Can Do About It Now," "Lonesome Whistle," "Everything I Ever Wanted," "My Oh My How Time Flies,"and "High Road."

Lonesome Whistle, by the Roys, is a no solo journey, and clearly articulates various human struggles common to any average living soul of any age.
