I wonder why so many artists name their albums and CDs "Lost in America". With the opportunities presented to them for expressing themselves musically and financially, no one should be lost in America. But nonetheless this is a head banging Rock and Roll showcase of talent. All rocker, singer/songwriter Edwin McCain comes to us from Charleston, South Carolina, with roots in Jazz and soul. McCain and his dynamic band (guitarist Larry Chaney, bassist Lee Hendrix, drummer Dave Harrison and saxophone player Craig Shields) gained respect and support from artists such Hootie, Jewel and even the Allman Brothers, for the 300 plus a night touring schedules to put them on the musical talent road to success.
Signed to Atlantic's Lava subsidiary in 1995,with the help of Hootie and the Blowfish, the group debuted with Honor Among Thieves. Lost in America will be released in April on Vanguard Records and reminds me of something Lenny Kravitz would put together. Lost in America is a combination of folk, southern soul and acoustic rock all rolled into a favorable ear popping easy listening fun CD.
