'Love Enough' a decent blend of tunes for Christian genre

Laura Kaczor’s latest release, Love Enough, brings a welcome blend of soul, contemporary, pop and light rock to the world of Christian music. It isn’t overly innovative, but the songs are decent and their spiritual themes are powerful enough.

While the lyrics overall are pretty standard for the genre, Kaczor does have a good, smooth voice. At times, however, it is nearly overshadowed by the instrumentals (which are perhaps the true gem of the album’s music), but her voice is nevertheless very clear while conveying her obvious love for God and a spiritual life. The clarity of Kaczor’s voice can likely be attributed to her background as a religious speaker and worship leader.

More so than Kaczor’s previous work, Love Enough is filled with a range of different sounds. Some songs sound like they’re straight out of Nashville’s country scene while others could find places on pop charts in New York. The mix works however, and the result provides a variety of options for the listener.

Those looking for something upbeat and lively, for example, will find it in songs like “Don’t You Think It’s Time,” and “Yours Forever.” On the other hand, tracks like the title song, “Love Enough,” as well as “When Grace Calls You Out,” and “Sacred Bride,” offer more melodic and smoother sounds.

The track that is perhaps most worth a listen, however, is the album’s tenth and final song, “Beautiful Mystery.” The instrumental talent is truly showcased here with its rich piano and string additions.

According to her website, the multitalented Kaczor (who also plays guitar and piano) co-wrote nine out of the album’s ten songs, working with award-winning Christian music artists like Brian White, Chad Cates, Carl Cartee and Holly Newton. Kaczor worked additionally with Don Koch, a winner of six Dove awards who also produced the album.

Kaczor released her first album, Wake Me Up, in 2006. She followed this with Wildflowers in 2007. As with her first two albums, Kaczor’s heart is truly in the music, and if anything, this makes up for Love Enough’s few faults.
