The many voices of a single instrument - 'Three Stories' by Eldar Djangirov

Three Stories - Album Review

It’s amazing how many voices a single instrument can have. In Three Stories, Eldar shows his mastery with the grand piano, 14 pieces. For fans of contemporary jazz and classical piano, or even newcomers to the genre, the work seems best suited for listening in quiet reflection. It would also be a pleasant soundscape for study, or as the conversation backdrop at one of the upcoming month’s family gatherings.

In recent years, Eldar Djangirov received a Grammy nomination for his earlier work, Re-Imagination and also released the bubbly “Virtue,” back in 2009. Astonishingly, Eldar dedicated his life to piano at the age of three. At 12, he and his family moved from the former Soviet Union State, Kyrgyzstan, to Kansas to further his craft and exposure in the worldwide Jazz community. His family stuck by his side, moving to San Diego, California and then Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California.

Eldar currently resides in New York City, and has a few upcoming tour dates, you can find on his website: EldarJazz.com.
