1\11\11 appears to be a lucky day, as it is one of thirteen days this century written with the same digits. Some artists like Britney Spears, Kayne West, and Jay-Z opted to press their luck with releasing new singles. However, today is the perfect day of a documentary release that has been getting lots of buzz.

Hip hop artist, Twista, stars in "Mr. Immorality: The Life and Times of Twista", a bio pic directed by Vlad Yudin and produced by Ed Mejia. Yudin has previously directed "Last Day of Summer" in 2009 and critically acclaimed "Big Pun: The Legacy" in 2008. Yudin with the Vladar Company teams about with Get Money Gang Entertainment to bring us the story of Twista's upbringing in Chicago to where he is now in his career.

The film explores the struggle coming from the crime ridden streets of Chicago, as murder rates increase. The audience sees the impact the city had on the rapper and how he was able to become successful, although he had various hardships. Chicago residents get the chance to see what an impact the city has had on those who have made it, while exposing the cultural importance of the city.

Viewers get a first hand look at where Twista, born November 27, 1972, Carl Terrell Mitchell, grew up, as he takes it back to the hood, where he is proudly from. He proudly reps Chicago, showing love to the his fans, as he is an approachable and very down to earth individual.

The artist sheds light on how violent the streets are, as he dishes that as he was in Iraq one week, more shootings occurred in Chicago, making him feel more safe overseas than from where he was raised. The bio pic highlights Twista's accomplishments, as he debuted in 1991 as Tung Twista, signed to Atlantic Records. Guinness Book of World's Records named him the fasted MC in 1992. His 2004 album, Kamikaze hit #1 on Billboard's 200 list, as he is most known for his collaboration with Kayne West and Jamie Foxx, in "Slow Jamz". In 2004, he launched his own record label GMG Entertainment, as his 8th album "The Perfect Storm" features the hit single "Make a Movie" with Chris Brown.

The film takes the audience on the road with the rapper as he records such new album, released Novemmber 9th. Fans get front row concert access from their homes, as one witness the fastest rapper alive perform.

Exclusive interviews by Yudin shows the audience a more vulnerable side of a rap persona,as Twista speaks about being one who keeps to himself. We see how creative the artist as music is such a passion to the rapper.

The film offers behind the scenes, entertaining and engaging content, such as old school home movie clips, from when he first began battling. We see how much of a pioneer in music he has been, being consistent and having the talent and lyrical content to rap so fast and still be coherent.

"Mr. Immorality: The Life and Times of Twista" includes celebrity guests such as Scott Storch, Ne-Yo, and The Dream. The film also includes another Chicago native on the rise, Jeremih , as his hit with 50 Cent "Down on Me" climbs the charts.

The film does a beautiful job covering the social issue of violence in Chi-town and the history of the violence, while perfectly incorporating the city's influence in both music and culture. Not only do we get the background of a talented and motivated artist, we get a first account of the lifestyle of cars, being in the studio, performances, and being on the road. I impressed by the film, as it also had educated me about what was happening in Chicago, where young kids are being shot, as people don't feel comfortable asking the police for help.

The direction in the film was phenomenal, as one feels like you are right there with the hip hop star, as the story is told on such a personal level. I found myself captivated in the film, watching it over again because of such great content expressed.

I would recommend "Mr. Immortality: The Life and Times of Twista" to any hip hop fan, any Twista fan, anyone trying to make something of themselves that are coming from a struggle. However, this film is so much more that the life of a rapper. This film shines a light on the city in turmoil, raising awareness on a city that is about change.

One thing is for sure, this film had changed my view on how I saw Chicago, making me aware of how it might feel to be scared to leave the house and how hard it must be to make something of yourself, being surrounded by drugs, gangs, and guns. Not only do I appreciate humble stars who really try to educate about such social issues, but I have a new found respect in the artistry of Twista's music and legacy.
