My Life With George

The story of how one small dog has the power to help a mother and her young son cope with their loss and find happiness in their lives.

When Judith Summers loses her husband and father within a span of two weeks in the early summer of 1998 she and her young son Joshua find life difficult to cope with, until they meet and fall instantly in love with George, a beautiful five month old Cavalier King Charles puppy.

Against her better judgment, Judith agrees to get a dog in the hopes it will help her son who is grieving for his father. Little did she know that this bundle of fur would consume her life!

From expensive and often frequent trips to the vet, to out of control behavior, Judith and Joshua's lives are dominated by the new man in their lives.

Yet through the ups and downs of life with George, they loved him unconditionally, often sacrificing other forms of companionship as George filled a void of loss and sorrow and came into their lives when they needed him the most.

In this true story of one high-maintenance and, at times, incorrigible pet, the author does a wonderful job of relaying to her audience how she coped with loss and restored happiness in the lives of her and her young son. For anyone who has lost a loved one, or loved a pet unconditionally, this book is a warm and wonderful recount of how the most unexpected of creatures can bring light and joy to our lives.
