My Mommy Is Magic
My Mommy Is Magic, by Carl Norac, is a tribute to all mothers, but most of all, it is the protagonist's tribute to her mother. On the first page, 'My mommy doesn't have a magic hat or a wand,' says the narrator, 'She doesn't need things like that. She's just magic.' And on that one page, the whole book is summed up. The character's 'mommy' is so wonderful, she is magic. It is important to note that she is not even like magic, but rather her mommy is magic.
The assertiveness of the character's love and awe for her mother is admirable. And such assertiveness, love, and awe amazingly continue on throughout the book. Then again, what is there not to admire about a mommy who chases monsters away and kisses owies better? Not only that, she does many things like attract butterflies and clouds and swim faster than dolphins, among many other things. It's no wonder the narrator is floored by her mother's greatness.
This delightful children's book is a heartwarming story that should not be missed out on. The narrator's view of her mommy's uncanny greatness provides readers with a sweet and charming story. My Mommy Is Magic is a book certainly kids and their mothers will enjoy.
