My Sister's Keeper

Alexandra Porretta
A controversial yet heartwarming story of a young girl's struggle to live outside of the shadow of her sister and clain her body as her own.

What would you do if you knew your entire existence was created for one specific reason, to save your sister? For 13 years, Anna Fitzgerald underwent numerous surgeries, transfusions and shots to help her big sister Katie fight the leukemia that she's been battling since a young age.

Torn between wanting to save her sister as well as herself, Anna makes the decision to sue her parents for the right to her own body. Never been given the choice of whether she wanted to donate or not, she draws the line when asked to give up a kidney, a move she knows might cost Katie her life.

Despite winning her case, Anna still questions her decision. The only problem is her right to choose is suddenly taken away; and Anna, as always, is sacrificed for her sister.

"My Sister's Keeper" is a fascinating story, which will touch its readers to their core. It raises ethical issues on "designer babies" and will leave you debating for hours. Jodi Picoult does a fantastic job of bringing her audience through this family's journey of love and loss.
