"Neon Streets" By Caitlin Canty Review

“Neon Streets” by Caitlin Canty is a deep and well-thought out folk song. Canty’s voice reminds me of Kimya Dawson in the beginning, but then I begin to realize that her voice is her own.

The guitar is light, playful, and it even makes you think. Yes, it makes you think. Canty’s song holds substance, which is a rare occurrence in today’s music. To think of “a moon competing with orange streetlights” is a fantastic picture that lets us peer into the mind of the songwriter. She sees the modern world of lights fighting against the natural beauty of stars. Everything for her is a fight, which is what she conveys in the song. Caitlin Canty wants us to feel her emotion.

We have all been overwhelmed and felt like everything is fighting against us, haven’t we? The song is relatable and I think that’s why it’s so great. It really applies to everyone.

Canty's voice is earthy and soft, which is a great asset for any acoustic artist, whether in the folk or pop genre.
