The New Conan Movie Splash or Flop?

The new Conan the Barbarian did not make the big splash at the box office the film makers were hoping for.

For women, putting a muscle bound man with pretty blue eyes in a loin cloth is a win/win situation. Maybe the true action fans, men, did not agree.

According to the results on Box Office Mojo” the movie took in only $3,650,000 opening night coming in fourth place at the box office behind Spy Kids: All The Time In The World at third, Rise of The Planet of The Apes in second and The Help in first place.

Actor Jason Momoa of the TV shows Stargate Atlantis and Game of Thrones was hoping the film would make him a household name.

Last week Yahoo Movies posed the question, “Can he do the role proud, or will people be missing that Austrian charm?”

Despite the rather large shoes he had to fill, Hawaiian actor Momoa is definitely prettier than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is also a better actor that speaks better English.

MTV online stated, "Conan the Barbarian isn't trying to pull any punches. From the beginning, the remake of the 1982 cult classic proclaims that its lead lives, loves, slays and is content. And critics are saying that's exactly what you get in theaters."

With the economy in constant flux, many families may be holding off for DVD as the cost of 3D theater entertainment can be a bit pricey for the whole family. Some may not have seen the movie because they weren’t familiar with the actor.

According to USA Today, “What he doesn't do, alas, is act. This may not be the fault of Baywatch hunkster Jason Momoa, who plays the title character in this ruinous remake of the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger sword-and-sandal flick. At least Arnold's 'acting' helped to make it a corny home-video hit.”

Ouch! But don’t worry Jason. Any movie with the name “Conan” attached to it is likely to become a classic.

So, it didn’t make number one in the box office opening day. The fight isn’t over yet as long as the movie remains in the theater.

Will the movie make Jason Momoa a household name? The future is yet to come, but to Science Fiction/Fantasy Fans, Momoa was already a household name. To women all over the word, already number one in our hearts.
