The Office (season 1)

The first season of the NBC comedy "The Office" is only six episodes long. The whole season is shorter than a "Lord of the Rings" movie. The DVD is perfect for comedy-lovers who think they might want to catch up with the show, but are not sure if they will like its racy humor. The show is simply not for everyone.

But it is for me. I think Steve Carell is funnier in "The Office" than he is in any of his movies. In addition, his supporting cast is tremendous. Each member of "The Office" exaggerates characteristics that anyone who has ever worked in an office will be able to recognize. Dwight works too hard. Jim doesn't work hard enough. Pam just wants to be happy outside the workplace. Everyone knows people like them and that's what makes "The Office" so fun to watch.

The second season is twenty-two episodes. So before investing in it, check out the one-disc first season and see if "The Office" is for you.
