This is the perfect gift for the person who has everthing. Oops, I spelledthat word wrong, let me check it on my new computerized Scrabble Player'sDictionary.
Do you know someone who loves Scrabble? Do you have someone on your holidaygift list who loves word games? Jumbles? Crossword puzzles? This is perfectfor them. This is a hand-held computer game consisting of 100,000 wordsfrom Merriam Webster's Dictionary. You can use this as a simple puristdictionary to play individual games or to, basically, cheat on any wordgame you are playing.
One of the games, Build, is a great way to cheat. If you type in letters,it will give you a possible word using the combination. Mystery Word is abasic form of Hangman, where you guess the letters in a word identified byblank spaces. The player has 10 guesses to fill in the blanks. Bewarethough, some of the words are obscure, like "aliquant." Jumble is fun, asyou are given a bunch of mixed up letters and your challenge is to identifythe word. Crossword is a great aid for crossword addicts. If you type in aword with a few letters missing, it will identify possible words that canfit into that space; and, Pattern will let you type in a word already onyour Scrabble board, as well as the letters in your hand to play. Thedictionary will find the best word to fit within the game.
Ahhh, the ultimate cheating tool! Better than excusing yourself and goingto the bathroom where you have stashed your paperback dictionary. At firstI was a little intimidated by the Scrabble Players Dictionary, as I haveonly recently overcome my fear of computers and mastered e-mailing, but Ifought my hesitation and started to explore the dictionary and enjoy it. Iespecially liked Mystery Word and Jumble. I do love the game of Scrabbleand to use this within the game, would seem to defeat the purpose ofchallenging yourself, but to use this as a resource, learning tool or aninteractive game could be both educational and fun.
