Only Through the Pain

Trapt's third album, Only Through the Pain, captures the high energy rock feel throughout. It's heartfelt and diverse, warranting a reward to the listener. There's a bit of a hard rock feel and edge to the opening tracks, as Trapt hits the ground running with explosions. The middle evolves to a slower and ambient foreshadowing of hope that holds constant throughout, with the slight glitch of that earlier grit coming through.

Only Through the Pain as a whole proves that Trapt is coming into their own and promotes the potential of growth for which, I'm sure, Trapt strives. It shows Trapt still has some fight in them and can deliver a series of perpetual solid tracks. The sound quality and originality gleam out of the band members, producing very good musical depth and has substantial content.

Rather than have one hit single like "Headstrong," off a previous album, Only Through the Pain is layered with good tracks firing out one after another. The lyrics are true and heart wrenching as the screaming is reduced to portray Trapt in a much more favorable light.

I can't get over the strong consistency this album possesses. Each track is a winner. You don't have to press the skip button here. It's one smooth listen from beginning to end, omitting any junk songs. Trapt has a strong sound that's ingrained in each track, yet there's a lot of variety mixed in. It would be hard to pick favorites, but there's enough on this album that people can pick and choose, with a wide range of difference.
