With each album Colombian superstar Juanes has gotten better and better. It was only a matter of time until he hit a plateau and P.A.R.C.E. is it.
Not that the album is bad. On the contrary, it is quite good and is a solid example of Juanes's progression as a musician. He's unfraid to tackle heartfelt themes and deep groovy sounds, and this is possibly his most mature work yet.
But for all its appearance, P.A.R.C.E. lacks soul. There's not one track that stands out as its "A Dios le Pido", no "Camisa Negra", no "Volverte a Ver".
"Regalito" is the closest thing to a standout single with a catchy beat and an decidedly oriental feel to it, but that's an area Shakira has already conquered. "Yerbatero" has a bare-bones rock feel that is more typical of Juanes.
No doubt Juanes will sell millions of copies, but I can't escape the feeling he could have tweeked with P.A.R.C.E. little more before releasing it.
