The Parting
Beverly has a way with this book. While reading about Nellie May and Caleb Yoder, I was taken back to when my oldest was trying to find her way. Children, whether Amish or Englishers, all try to find their own identity even if it means traditions are questions. I also was taken back to my faith in the beginning and how I struggled to know what my stand in life was.
Through this book you realize that the Amish are no different than you are, but have their own traditions. They go through the same tests of faith and finding faith that any person would. I was taken back to when a Mennonite preacher came to our church in Texas and could visualize what he had talked about then. This book will leave you grasping for new hope and the revival of your own faith.
This book is a gripper, so plan to get little sleep if you read it at night. I would try to go to sleep only to want to know what would happen next.
