'Putumayo Presents South Africa'

Kim Alsumiri
Another cultural CD from Putumayo Presents.

Being released on May 18, 2010, the CD series Putumayo Presents is proudly releasing South Africa. The CD is a great tribute and introduction to the diverse cultures and musical stylings in South African countries such as Zimbabwe and Malawi.

Music is truly the universal language because, even though I have never been to South Africa, I can still feel the culture and the passion through the upbeat notes. Language barriers are not important as I let the voices wash around me, sharing with me the feeling and pride the artists and singers feel.

Things in South Africa have not always been easy or peaceful, but South Africa is united in this compilation album. Artists include Miriam Makeba, Phinda, the Soul Brothers, and the Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir. And as is usual with the Putumayo Presents CDs, a traditional South African recipe, this one from chef Amos Dlamini from the well known Moyo restaurants. Easy listening and a must have for anybody who loves to be swallowed up by culture.
