'Red Pond'

Listening to Junior Kelly's reggae album Red Pond brought me back to the week I took a cruise to the Bahamas. Sipping a iced drink, laying on the deck chair in the sun, and sailing down to the islands. Ahhhhh. I didn't want the album to end and have to go back to reality.

Kelly's sound is classic reggae, but it doesn't get old. His smooth voice and easy songs just let the listener relax. "Slackness" is an upbeat melody and has a groovy feel to it. "Believe in Yourself" has a great horn section in the beginning, and if I had just read the lyrics, I would have imagined a slow and inspirational song, but Kelly skillfully jazzes it up in his own style and you can't help but get up and move.

Whether you want a mini vacation in the office, or you just like reggae music, I would suggest Kelly to anyone. It's a refreshing break from the day.
