Relentless

While there are several great tracks on Jason Aldean's newest album, Relentless, there are also several that fall short. The best song is definitely "Johnny Cash," which is also the first track to be released as a single. It's a toe-tapping, feel good song about quitting your job and running off with your sweetheart to Las Vegas. "Johnny Cash" has been playing a lot lately on country radio stations and it's easy to see why.Other tracks like "Relentless" and "My Memory Ain't What It Used To Be" are also good. They are reflective of Aldean's country and pop styles ?- these two tracks are a perfect mix of the two. However, it's hard to be excited about this CD because some tracks are just average. After track eight, the album seems to go downhill. "Back In This Cigarette" has a fairly catchy chorus, but isn't on par with other songs from the album. "Grown Woman" is similar ? it's not a terrible song, but it pales in comparison to other tracks before it.At least the album ends with a bang ? "Not Every Man Lives" is slow in tempo and powerful. It's a shame that Relentless is weighed down by the average songs, because the ones that are good really shine.
