The Return
The second season American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard's homecoming to the music scene is The Return. This newest installment from the crooner exhibits Studdard's raunchier side with nice smooth grooves. The title track has Mocha on background vocals, a futuristic bend to it and lines like, "Baby, I know it's been awhile, there's a lot of things I wanna show you/I wanna whisper in your ear tell you what I'm all about." "Change Me" has Studdard elaborating on "what ifs" with such lines as, "How would you like it if I talked about your skin/didn't like the polish you be wearin' on your toes?" "Make Ya Feel Beautiful" has clapping and Studdard refuting his playa status and his "true intentions" with lines like, "First let me start by saying I ain't tryin' to get in your jeans. First I'd rather learn your ups and down and everything in between." "Get U Loose" has Tank and Steve Russell on background vocals. Studdard gets down to business with lines like, "Girl I see across the room, you lookin' fly/get you on that Patron and get you feelin' right." With The Return, Ruben Studdard asserts his velvety voice in a more lascivious direction.
