Children’s musical group The Wiggles performed at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. While I did not have the opportunity to catch the show, a close friend of mine in the Hempstead area brought his wife and kids to the performance, and he could not stop raving about the entertainment provided by the Fab Four from down under.
Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and all the other charismatic Wiggly Dancers made appearances, much to the delight of his children, both of whom are preschoolers. His kids were simply delighted when The Wiggles began singing familiar songs, and the performers did an admirable job of encouraging audience participation.
Not only were The Wiggles lively and full of energy throughout the show, but they also performed their own stunts, including an assortment of captivating acrobatics. He appreciated the warning that the crowd received when the group was preparing to perform a dark musical number. It helped him to warn his kids that the lights would be dimming for theatrical purposes.
As a result, the preschoolers were not taken off guard or scared by the stage effects. Part of what made the children’s musical group so entertaining for him and his entire family was their constant interaction with the crowd, which made the kids feel as if they were a part of the show.
