Right Where You Want Me
Jesse McCartney's sophomore album, "Right Where You Want Me," the follow-up to his successful debut, "Beautiful Soul," has more of a rock imprint to it which shows McCartney's growth since his debut. "Right Where You Want Me" has some soppy songs and some edgier tunes mixed in that come close to equaling some musical pioneers land some current hit makers. The title track opens the album and it has superb guitar riffs along with admissions by McCartney about falling under a young girl's spell with lines like, "Girl, there's something bout me that you oughta know I've never felt the need to lose control, always held on back and played it slow but not this time. Baby, take me on a journey I've been thinking lately I could use a little time alone with you crazy let's do something maybe please don't take your time. You've got me right where you want me." "Just So You Know" has McCartney acknowledging his paradoxical situation with lines like, "I shouldn't love you but I want to." "Blow Your Mind" has drum work from Kenny Aronoff and lyrics like, "I've been watching you can't believe just what I'm seeing/ I know exactly what you want to hear." "Right Back in the Water" continues McCartney's quest to figure out what is going on in his current relationship with lines like, "I can tell by the look in her eyes, maybe I'm just another one of her lies," and his high notes sound like Michael Jackson. Fans of McCartney's are sure to pick up this album and will be jubilant to see him continue his maturation as an artist while still continuing to keep young girls right where he wants them.
