Righteous Kill

This murder mystery film focuses on two veteran detectives and a tough case they take on.

Righteous Kill is a gripping murder mystery, where nothing is what it first appears to be. The plot focuses around two aging detectives and their longstanding partnership.

In the film, Detectives Thomas "Turk" Cowan (played by Robert De Niro) and David "Rooster" Fisk (Al Pacino) are investigating a drug dealer named Spider (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) and a series of 14 murders. However, by the end of the film it is clear that whoever is committing the crimes, is someone who the pair least expected.

The acting of Al Pacino in this film was incredible. His portrayal of the eclectic, intelligent Fisk was spot on. He brought a good amount of depth to a character that could have very easily been made into a flippant shell of what he was.

The one drawback to this movie was that the plot was incredibly predictable. If I revealed any more here than I already have, you'd most likely be able to figure out the ending. It was not well thought out, and seemed to simply be a vehicle for Pacino and De Niro to appear onscreen together for a full feature-length film.

This film was too formulaic and simplistic for me to recommend to anyone wanting a serious thriller. However, I would recommend this film to fans of De Niro and Pacino, as they both perform admirably in this poorly executed film.
