Ropatt IV
Ropatt IV, by Ropatt, blends jazz with more current music using touches like synthesizers and some dance/electronica sounds. Some songs also remind me of funk and Latin music a little. Most of the album goes without lyrics; in fact, "Chocolate Covered Lover" and "Smooth Sailing" are the only songs on this 16 track album with vocals. In the way of jazz, Ropatt brings in elements and experiments with them to create a unique sound, letting the music go anywhere, whether the music is expected to do so or not. Many of the songs are good, but some are a bit boring and do not sound like anything truly new. A few tracks are great to slow dance to and others might cause a listener to bounce a little in his/her seat or nod his/her head. The album has a calm and sometimes somewhat bubbly personality with a few surprises.
