Female P.I. Kinsey Millhone is back, this time hired to find a missing mother after 35 years. This mother's name is Violet, and her daughter Daisy is the one who hired Kinsey.
At first, Kinsey doesn't want to even attempt to take on this job. For one thing, this "Violet" person has been gone a long, long time. But of course, Kinsey takes the job, her curiosity getting the better of her.
So she talks and talks, and talks some more to the people who knew Violet and Daisy. And the more she talks, the more she learns. She learns that everyone is somehow linked to one another. And some people are keeping secrets.
She also has to deal with Foley, Violet's husband. The townsfolk all blame him for Violet's disappearance. He used to beat her up, so people can only imagine that he had something to do with it.
Some think she is dead, and Foley killed her, while others thing she just up and left with some guy. The only problem with that theory is her car also vanished. So unless the killer pushed the car off a cliff, then Violet must have run off. That's what her daughter thinks, and is sticking to that theory.
I enjoyed reading this latest book in the series, like I enjoy all of Sue Grafton's books. This one, however, was a bit different. I can tell she has grown as an author over time. She has become a better writer. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series, as she writes them. The T is for Trespass book is the newest one out, and I am looking forward to reading it one day.
