'Satellite' by Rise Against

Chelsea Lewis

Rise Against is a hardcore rock band from Chicago, Illinois that formed back in the late nineties. Rise Against has always stayed dedicated to their musical style, of punk rock/hardcore punk. Rise Against is on tour promoting their latest album, Endgame.

The band recently released their new music video for “Satellite,” a song that provides inspiration for many of the band's dedicated fans. The music video itself is simple, mostly drawing from the band's intensive live performances and fan reactions to the band performing live. The music video shows backstage footage of the band preparing for their live shows as well, which gives fans a more personal look at their punk rock band. The video feels like a thank you letter from Rise Against to their fans that have helped the band rise to stardom.

“Satellite” is the follow-up video to Rise Against’s single, “Make It Stop (September’s Children)" which contained a very intense yet positive message in regards to the large increase in LGBT teen suicides. After such a meaningful video, the band seems to have taken a less intense approach and just produced a simple performance-driven video, which suits “Satellite” in its upbeat theme and positive message. At first listen and first view, “Satellite” might not seem like something special, but Rise Against has mastered the art of making people listen closely to their lyrics and find the true meaning behind their songs.
