Seed Of Chucky
Script? Plot? Acting? Are you kidding me? This is a movie about a serial killer doll, his serial killer wife and their child. Yes, Chucky (Brad Dourif) is back and so is Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Add to the mix - a sexually confused son/daughter - Glen/Glenda (Billy Boyd), the self-parody of Tilly, lots of pop references, and you have the recipe for "Seed of Chucky." There is the prerequisite killing and blood, but this is hardly a horror movie. It's a black comedy of which we wait for funny one-liners from dolls.
Now we don't hold these types of movies up to classics like "The Godfather" or "Gone With The Wind." You don't even compare them to classic horror movies like "The Shining" or "The Exorcist." No, of course, we don't, but compared to previous entries in the franchise, this was kind of lackluster. Maybe its my maturing sensibilities. Though I did laugh when Tiffany flashed Chucky her doll boobs so that he could ? ahem ? get wood! I know. Please forgive me. It was all too easy to go for the pun.
Most sequels never hold up to the original, but people know that going in. "Child's Play" had the benefit of the times where there were so many talking dolls on the market. Remember Teddy Ruxpin? How about My Buddy? I can still remember the commercial's jingle, "My buddy
