I would have to say that season four of "Sex and the City" is my favorite. With new-and-approved Carrie Bradshaw back in a relationship with Aidan Shaw, Miranda Hobbes pregnant with Steve's child, Samantha Jones in a "lesbian" relationship with a woman she met at Charlotte's art gallery and Charlotte York working on her marriage with her husband Trey, the fourth season is brilliant and remarkable, and will become your favorite, too.
Although season three ended on a good note with all four women deciding not to obsess about men, the fourth season mixes everything up again. Now that Big is pushed to the side, Carrie is in a relationship with Aidan for the second time around. Things seem wonderful between them but all that glitters isn't gold. With Miranda pregnant with Steve's baby, the audience is tricked into believing that the two will get married before the season is up, but instead they make a pact to both raise the baby together while maintaining separate lives. As crazy as Samantha is, she becomes even crazier when she starts to date a woman. Even though this is a bit odd, this shows that Samantha hasn't given up on relationships, which shines a healthy light on her. When prissy Charlotte finds out that she has a 15 percent chance of getting pregnant, she becomes vulnerable at first, but takes matters into her own hands by taking fertility drugs.
This season is so good because it illustrates how each of the four women have particular faults, which causes fans to stay glued to the series, wondering what the characters' fates will be. It's evident that Carrie tries to mold herself to fit the "traditional girlfriend" role with Aidan by strictly following the rules of dating, but the audience can't be fooled. Miranda is constantly in denial about being in love with Steve, even when she is carrying his baby. Samantha may seem happy about her single fabulous self and dating habits, but deep down we see that she is insecure. On the other hand, Charlotte is confident about who she wants to be ... a mother and wife ... but becomes self-doubting about finding love again after her marriage ends with Trey. The trials and tribulations of starting a new relationship never seem to end with these four ladies.
