Sid and Nancy
Sid and Nancy is a true story about Sid Vicious (Gary Oldman), the late bass player for the Sex Pistols, and his notorious girlfriend Nancy Spungen. This is by far one of Gary Oldman's best performances. It is rumored that Sid's mother was so impressed by his portrayal of her son that she gave him the famous chain that Nancy had given to Sid in real life.
When Sid and Nancy meet she is a groupie and a heroin junkie. They immediately fall in love and Sid begins using heroin with her. Their lives are dominated by the drug. Nancy takes Sid home to America to meet the family. There is some trouble between the band members and they are not at all happy about Nancy's presence or her influence on Sid. One incredible scene shows Sid making a video of his cover, of the Frank Sinatra song My Way. Gary Oldman performs this, and other songs, on the soundtrack.
Sid and Nancy is a very unique and believable love story. Although their lives end in tragedy, it is a very fun movie. A must-see for music lovers!
