Silhouette of Lies: CD Review

Best new rock band ever?

Texas-born hard rock group AdaKaiN consists solely of four unbelievable human forms bursting with musical talent. The vocals, the guitar, drums, and bass are four components used in any other band. So what makes AdaKaiN different from any other aspiring rock ‘n roll group?

The fantastic four reminds me of a home-grown rock band that plays on Friday and Saturday nights in the homemade amphitheater behind the local bar, except there is one major difference. These guys are beyond good.

Have you ever listened to a rock song and wanted to bob your head back and forth to become part of the music? Imagine an entire album worth of head-bobbing songs. AdaKaiN will eventually skyrocket, and I will be sure to share this little piece of audio heaven with everyone I know.

With the first steps toward rock stardom in 2008, releasing the LP Together in the Heart, it is no surprise that AdaKaiN hits us with another jolt of real music. I suppose that word is the best way to describe AdaKaiN: real. You can feel each word uttered by Travis Buck, the singer, travel through your rock-infused blood stream and jolt your heartbeat as if you had a miniature rock heart attack. And the guitar, led by Derrick Carter, the drums, mastered by Ryan Carrol, and the bass, articulately played by Jason Schauer, are there to jumpstart and envelop you in the song once again.

The music has personality- a word not often used in today’s pop music. With every artist’s music sounding similar in certain aspects, AdaKaiN is its own entity. In a rock world all in its own, AdaKaiN is the supreme ruler.

As individual as their sound is, Travis Buck’s voice reminds me of Rob Thomas, the lead singer of Matchbox 20. If Thomas was a rock god, similar to the newly discovered Travis Buck, I imagine this album, Silhouette of Lies, would be his baby. But of course that would only be if Rob Thomas’s vocals had an affair with Breaking Benjamin’s instrumentals.

All in all, the six tracks on the album, “Sky is falling,” “Distant Eyes,” “Good time girl,” “Dreaming,” “In the shadows,” and “Change,” are all equally amazing, but “Change” is my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed this album and the time and effort put into making such a great contribution to the rock world.
