SilverSea Cruises

After two years of traveling almost every two weeks, Margherita has become a bit spoiled, at least in my opinion anyway. She now has decided, she doesn't like the Mediterranean in the summer, as it's too hot. Actually, she doesn't like anywhere where the heat is greater than room temperature, which limits us to either indoors, or the Arctic Circle.

Fortunately, I found a cruise, which sails to the Arctic Circle. Be careful for what you wish for dearest.

Silversea Cruises has a voyage, which goes right through the Norwegian Fjords up to the North Cape, the northernmost point in the world. I should start this story off from the decision making point.

"What are Fjords?" Margherita asked.

"They're a domestically made car."

"No, Norwegian Fjords."

"Well, they're ummm... Fjordish. Yes, certainly Fjordish. "

"Is Norway cold?"

"Of course it is."

"The ship says they have suites for nearly every room."

"Are you going to ask me what a suite is?"

"No. Do you think the rooms are big?"

"Can't be. It's on a ship. Ships aren't big, or else they'd be.... Well, ships are tight, cramped places. It's the nature of cruising. It's like asking if the Great Lakes are Great or Niagara Falls fall. Cruise ships are cramped."

Above is a literary technique called, "a contrarian beginning". That is, I started by describing something in one direction, then it goes into the completely other angle.

I knew nothing about Norway besides the Swedish Chef from the Muppets. And yes, I knew he wasn't Norwegian, but I was told once that he was what Norwegians sound like. I also knew Leif Erikson and Vikings came from Norway, but other than that, my knowledge was sparse. Oh, yeah, and they eat smoked, salted and other yucky versions of fish that would even make sushi chefs cringe. Yes, I think that is my complete summary of my knowledge of Norway.
