It still boggles my mind: how can you lose an 8-4 advantage? And then have your fate be determined by the four people you originally outnumbered after your two tribes merged? Well it happened this season. Foa Foa has gone from consistently losing all challenges to surviving the last few weeks of tribal council intact as a group. After defying the odds, Russell thinks he has this in the bag except for the one fly in the ointment – Brett. Deeming him the biggest threat left in the competition, Russell is worried the last Galu member could win the rest of the challenges, propelling him in the finals. Making Russell even more nervous is Brett’s close relationship with Russell’s ally Natalie. Brett realizes the situation he is in – no allies and having to win immunity to keep from being voted out – and is working to build relationships with the people who want him gone. This poses a problem for Natalie who wants to remain loyal to Russell but finds herself being drawn to Brett. Picking Brett first for the reward challenge raised everyone’s eyebrows. However Natalie assured Russell she would not betray him - having been with him since day one she doesn’t see a reason to turn on him now. So the main goal for the week was to stop Brett from winning immunity. And naturally he won, throwing a wrench in everyone’s plans. Russell had anticipated this and decided to vote out Mick instead since he is the biggest threat next to Brett. Jaison though turned his sights to Shambo. He explained that Mick is more athletic, giving them a better chance of defeating Brett in challenges. Shambo on the other hand is no longer needed. As Russell debated who should go, he continued telling Mick and Shambo he was voting for the other. At tribal council Shambo was unanimously voted out. Much to the audience’s surprise she was calm after everything unfolded and was not angry at Foa Foa Four for staying loyal to one other. Now the sole Galu member still alive in the game, Brett heads into Sunday night’s finale with the odds stacked against him. It promises to be a very suspenseful night. Till Sunday then…
