Ever since she started writing songs two years ago, Suzie Brown has taken the music industry by storm. She has sold out popular venues such as Boston’s Club Passim and Philadelphia’s Tin Angel. She has also opened for Livingston Taylor and Lyle Lovett. Now she is set to release her sophomore album, titled Heartstrings.
Brown is a practicing cardiologist who recently gave up her research to follow her music career. Good thing for us she went for her dream because this music really hits the spot.
The upcoming album, Heartstrings, is what can be called “feel-good music.” This album is really diverse with acoustic, folk, and soul styles of music. Her voice is one of the most soothing sounds we’ve heard out of a new artist in a long time as well.
Not only does the acoustic guitar and her sweet vocals dominate the album, there are some awesome bursts of electric guitar and some very intriguing base lines as well. Just listen to the fourth track, “Nice Girl,” and you will see what I’m talking about. Then the very next song, “What You Do to Me,” chimes in with an army of horns, the organ, and some nice electric blues rifts.
This album has great lyrics, a talented artist, and it has been extremely well produced.
